Much like Moses’s quest for the promised land, I find myself on an epic quest to find the perfect bra. This has been happening for years, and I can only hope I don’t end up in the desert with a golden calf.
I have learned many things during this. First and most importantly, Victoria’s secret straight up lies to you. They want you to buy one of their bras, but they only have limited sizes. When I went to see if they had anything for me, they tried to say I’m a 34C. I’m 30F. Shade thrown. But let’s be real, no one buys Victoria’s Secret bras to wear them for any length of time. That’s the only logical explanation I can come up with for bedazzling lingerie.
It’s hard to measure yourself, so get a friend to help. Think of it as a bonding exercise. I asked Charming to measure me, however it just turned into him bewildered at what goes into women’s clothing. Oh honey, you don’t even know.
I’m told going to Intimacy is great for getting sized, if you want a professional fitting. You don’t have to buy anything, and they are pretty damn accurate. Unfortunately, there isn’t one near me, so I’m hearing this secondhand. Word of advice for expats in the Kaiserslautern area of Germany: know your size before going to a lingerie store here. I got a lot of side eye when asking if they spoke English. They only got more angry when I asked if they spoke French instead (sorry lady! I took French in college).
When back in the states, I had a lot of luck at Nordstrom’s. Those lovely ladies are super helpful, and showed me how bras should actually fit (The straps aren’t supposed to fall down. Who would have thunk?). I found a couple of brands that work for me, namely Wacoal and Chantelle. You can find out which brands have or even specialize in extended sizes.
Why am I writing this post? Because a good bra will completely revolutionize your body image and life. It’s true what they say: every lady has that one bra that when you wear it, you know everything will be okay. So why not be a bombshell and make every bra that bra?
Of course, I’m saying this, but if I gain or lose five pounds, my size will probably be completely different. Vey. Well, here’s to being optimistic!

May it become so! π
